Privacy Policy for Lockerly

Effective date: August 01, 2026
Last updated: August 01, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how I handle information when you use the Lockerly mobile application (the "App").

Lockerly is developed and operated by me as an individual developer ("I", "my", "me").

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Overview

Lockerly is a private media vault designed for local, on-device protection of your photos and videos.

  • The App does not require account registration.
  • Your private media is not uploaded to my servers.
  • I do not sell your personal data.

2. Information I Process

All information below is processed on your device, unless stated otherwise.

2.1 Media files

When you import photos or videos, those files are stored in app-controlled storage on your device. You can organize them in folders, set covers, view them, and play videos inside the App.

When you unlock or export media from the App, files may be saved back to your device storage or photo library, depending on your actions and device settings.

2.2 Security information

To protect access to the App, I process locally stored security data such as:

  • your PIN
  • optional fingerprint unlock preference
  • optional setting to require PIN after fingerprint unlock
  • auto-lock timing preferences

Fingerprint authentication is handled by your device operating system. I do not receive, store, or transmit your biometric data to my servers.

2.3 App preferences

The App stores local settings such as:

  • auto-lock timing
  • default reels playback behavior (including mute and "Up Next")
  • Android video player choice (in-app or device video app)
  • whether to remove original gallery files after import
  • other in-app preferences you choose

2.4 Cache and temporary files

The App may create local thumbnails, preview images, and temporary cache files to improve performance. You can clear thumbnails and cache from Settings. Clearing cache does not delete your locked media inside the App.

3. Permissions

Depending on your device, OS version, and features you use, the App uses the following permissions:

  • Photos and videos (Android: READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO) — to import media, save unlocked media back to your device gallery, and optionally remove originals from the gallery after import.
  • Biometric authentication (Android: USE_BIOMETRIC) — optional, used only for unlocking the App. Fingerprint authentication is handled by your device operating system; I do not receive, store, or transmit your biometric data.
  • Vibration (Android: VIBRATE) — for optional haptic feedback on key presses.

Permissions are used only to provide features you use. The App does not request microphone, camera, location, contacts, or "All files access" permissions. I do not collect voice, audio, or any sensor data from your device.

4. How I Use Information

I use locally processed information to:

  • lock and unlock the App
  • import, store, organize, and display your media
  • export or unlock media when you choose
  • play videos and show previews
  • apply your selected security and app settings
  • improve App performance through local cache and thumbnails

I do not use your private media for advertising, profiling, or marketing.

5. Data Sharing

5.1 No sale of personal data

I do not sell your personal data.

5.2 No routine cloud transfer

I do not routinely upload your photos, videos, PIN, or biometric data to my servers.

5.3 External app handoff (your choice)

If you choose Device video app playback on Android, the selected video may be opened in another app through the operating system. That external app is governed by its own privacy policy and terms.

5.4 Third-party services

I do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in the App at this time.

5.5 Legal requirements

I may disclose information only if required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or lawful government request, and only to the extent legally required.

6. Gallery originals and deletion

If you enable Remove originals after import, the App may attempt to delete selected items from your device gallery after a successful import. Your operating system may show a confirmation dialog before deletion.

You can turn this off anytime in Settings if you prefer to keep gallery copies.

You can delete media inside Lockerly at any time. Uninstalling the App may remove app-local data, subject to operating system behavior.

7. Data retention

Data is generally retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. I do not maintain a separate server copy of your private media.

8. Security

I apply reasonable safeguards available within this App design, including:

  • PIN protection
  • optional fingerprint unlock (device-managed)
  • app-private local storage

No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You should also keep your device passcode or biometrics enabled and maintain regular device backups.

9. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has used the App in violation of applicable law, contact me and I will take appropriate steps.

10. International use

You are responsible for using the App in compliance with local laws in your country or region.

11. Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When I do, I will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised policy.
